A Wish
by Mandy Doerr

I wish I could leave this world
And go somewhere far away.
Where I, in silence, could watch the sun
Slip quietly from the day.
The air would be scented with honeysuckle
With a slight touch of rain.
The wind would blow warm and gentle
Releasing me from stains.
The grass would be soft and fragrant.
Its color of deepest jade.
The flowers would be bright and plentiful
With a multitude of shades.
There would be trees - tall, noble, and strong
A constant watch keeping.
Along with the stars so brilliant and clear
Over my peaceful sleeping.
